Bring your dog to a pet friendly boat cruise on the Amelia River
by: Davis Yancy Clegg
Being a community that boasts landmarks such as Fort Clinch, the Omni Amelia Island Plantation, the Ritz Carlton, Peter’s Pointe and beautiful beaches, Amelia Island is an ideal setting for pets and their owners to be out and about in the community. With areas where traffic and noise are of little or no concern, Fernandina Beach provides the ideal landscape for dog walkers.
I had 2 dogs when I was growing up. One was a floppy-eared and very overweight basset hound; Penny, and the other one was a Boston Terrier, which we named Sir’ Boston Tea Party Clegg. He was regal, indeed! Both were amazing companions, and I look forward to becoming a dog owner again soon. As a child, I would spend time rough-housing and playing with the dogs – I was in a blissful state. Even as adult dogs, they affect us in the same, very positive way.
We become very attached to our dogs and consider them part of our families. We want to take them everywhere we go! Well here is some good news! There is a steady increasing number of small business owners on Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach, that are allowing pet owners to do bring their four-legged friends!
Amelia River Cruises has always been “pet friendly”. If there’s one thing a dog loves more than a car ride, it’s a boat ride! This is something that you will want to take advantage of! If you don’t own a boat, then why not come spend a couple of relaxing hours out on the water with us and bring your pet!
We charge for pet owners, but your pets cruise on their good looks. That’s right, they board for free! Also, throughout the month of November, Kids under 14 can join us on a cruise for free as well.
Stay tuned for lots of exciting things that are coming up with Amelia River Cruises.
